Effective Warm Up Part 2

brain-based drill lymphatic system Oct 22, 2020

Lymphatic Reset and Sensory Warm Up

Yes, it is important to stimulate your lymphatic system as well as sensory motor cortex before activities. It also can be a fantastic part of your morning routine due to its benefits.

The lymph system is a network of organs, lymph nodes, lymph ducts, and lymph vessels that make and move lymph, a clear fluid, from tissues to the bloodstream. The lymph system is a major component of the body's immune system and has many functions. They include protecting your body from illness-causing invaders, maintaining body fluid levels, absorbing digestive tract fats and removing cellular waste.

Dysfunction of the system does not only create  lymphatic issues. It can also be a contributor to pain, and other infectious diseases.

The sensory motor cortex lies next to the motor cortex in the brain. Stimulating the skin can activate areas in the brain that are in charge of movement. What does that mean? If you want to do exercises/sports that involve your knee, your knee needs to have a good movement pattern for performance and injury prevention. When rubbing the skin of the knee before your movement warm up the sensory motor cortex in your brain gets activation. The motor cortex (movement) of the knee lies directly next to the sensory motor cortex of the knee. Areas in the brain that lie next to each other activate each other. Result: you knee will move better.

Warm up effectively and your body and brain will be happy.
