How to create your own opportunities
Mar 28, 2022There seem to be those people in life that are always at the right time at the right place. The ones that enjoy their job, have time for the activities they love and live their dream life fulfilled and with purpose.
Fortunately, those people aren’t just lucky. They work on them strategically. Waiting around for an opportunity to present itself is not a very promising strategy for success. Opportunities are all around us as well; we just need to learn how to identify and step into them. Knowing ourselves and making a conscious effort to take action, is how we can create our own opportunities in order to reach our goals and dreams.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR OPPORTUNITIES
Strategy #1 Gain Clarity
Knowing who you are, how do you want to feel, what you want, what you need, what is important to you, what is holding you back, what limiting beliefs (we all have them) do you need to reframe, to just mention a few of the questions that you need to be able to answer. Seeking clarity is fundamental. If you don't know what you want then you can't identify and see an opportunity. You simply don't know what you need to pay attention to. Seeking clarity is one of the High Performance habits that I work on with my clients in every session. It is that important.
Strategy #2 Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Opportunities rarely happen in your comfort zone. In order to seek new opportunities, you need to push yourself out of your comfort zone. How much you push yourself is very individual but sometimes the bold moves get you faster forward to what you are looking for. It may feel uncomfortable at first to engage with people or in situations that will help get you to where you want to be. It is a skill that can be learned. Every time you try something new, it feels a little awkward but with time and repetition, you can learn anything. Remember the brain's plasticity, it can change and create new neural connections. What used to feel uncomfortable may not be so challenging anymore.
Strategy #3 Be Decisive
When opportunities arise, take advantage of them with confidence. If you have worked deep on gaining clarity about yourself, you will be able to make an informed decision based on your confidence, skills, and knowledge of yourself. If the opportunity turns out not to be as anticipated then know that it is part of your journey and will give you more clarity for your next step. It's called learning by doing and is the best way the brain grows and evolves.
